You've found it, the perfect weekend getaway
Posted: 26 March 2025
We took a trip to Tassie with Sky Blue (our newest shade) in hand and couldn’t pass up the chance to stop off at Seastone.
Set right on the water, it’s a place made for every moment - from long lunches to intimate elopements.

It’s luxury but lived in.
With access to private beaches, nearby surf spots, and Tasmania’s best wineries just a short drive away, Seastone is the kind of place that feels like it was made just for you.
We sat down with Cassie, the designer behind Seastone, to hear how it all came to life...

Q: What was your favourite part about designing Seastone?
A: Designing Seastone was an incredibly fun and rewarding process, as the exterior played a crucial role in shaping the interiors. The first thing that greets you upon entering is the floor-to-ceiling windows, perfectly framing a breathtaking coastal vista. I wanted the interior design to complement, rather than compete with, the stunning views, so I chose a harmonious colour palette inspired by nature—rich browns, deep greens, and serene blues—paired with sleek, modern furnishings and materials. To enhance the visual impact, we painted the walls a bold black, creating a striking contrast that naturally draws the eye toward the magnificent scenery. Every design choice came together seamlessly to create a truly exceptional holiday home—one where you feel instantly at ease the moment you arrive.

Q: Why was Tasmania, and specifically Swansea, the perfect location for Seastone?
A: Tasmania is the perfect setting for Seastone, as it showcases the island’s greatest asset—its pure, untouched natural beauty. The East Coast, with its pristine beaches, stunning mountains, and abundant wildlife, is truly magical. Seastone’s exterior was designed to reflect this rugged coastline, featuring a striking blue rock façade that blends seamlessly with the landscape. Tasmania is also known for its beloved “shack” culture, which heavily influenced the design. While Seastone offers a more luxurious take on the traditional shack, its essence remains the same—a place to leave your worries behind and simply enjoy time by the sea with family and friends.

Q: Is there an event hosted at Seastone that stands out as your favourite?
A: Seastone is the perfect backdrop for intimate events and elopements. We offer elopement packages for up to 10 guests, providing a magical setting to exchange vows without the stress of a large wedding. Recently, I styled a wedding using I Love Linen’s ruffled tablecloth and napkins on a table set right by the water, creating the most breathtaking scene.

Q: What does the perfect day at Seastone look like? Can you share your ideal itinerary?
A: The perfect day at Seastone begins with waking up to the sunrise, windows open, taking in the breathtaking view—it’s too beautiful to block out, even while in bed. The morning starts slowly with a cup of coffee by the water, wrapped in cosy blankets. If the waves are good, we’ll head out for a quick surf before enjoying a fresh seafood lunch. In the afternoon, we might take a scenic hike in Freycinet or visit a local winery. The day always ends by the fire, watching the sunset with a bottle of wine while the kids roast marshmallows—a perfect way to unwind and soak in the beauty of this special place.

Q: The east coast of Tasmania looks like a stunning destination, were there any challenges designing a property in that location?
A: The biggest challenge of designing a property on Tasmania’s East Coast is its remote location. With no local building contractors in the area, our builders had to commute two hours to the site each day. Sourcing materials was another hurdle—while some items had to be shipped from the mainland, we prioritised using local Tasmanian materials whenever possible, such as timber and stone. These locally sourced elements are what truly give Seastone its character, and I’m incredibly proud that we were able to keep it so authentically Tasmanian.
