We sat down with the team at @bayproperties to get a little insight into their inspiration behind the design.
Q: The Beach House Yamba has such a laid-back, coastal vibe, what was your inspiration behind the design?
A: Thank you, it is a very special place. Our clients, Paul and Jodie, had this incredible vision to bring to life the quintessential Australian beach shack. Their family has been coming to Yamba for over 30 years, creating these beautiful, lasting memories of holidays by the sea. Those carefree days, the smell of salt in the air, and the joy of simple living—it all became the heart of their inspiration. Paul and Jodie wanted to capture that nostalgia, that essence of a simpler time, they paired it with a love for retro and mid-century design. The result is this perfect blend of vintage charm and modern luxury—a space that feels both familiar and fresh. It’s more than just a property; it’s a love letter to their cherished memories and to Yamba itself.
Q: What’s your favourite part of the beach house, and why?
A: It would have to be the location. There really is nothing like waking up to the sunrise over the beautiful Pacific Ocean & being able to wander down to the beach from your doorstep. Watching whales & dolphins frolic from the comfort of bed and falling asleep to gentle waves crashing is just unbeatable.
Q: For anyone visiting Yamba, what are your must-see local spots
A: We would definitely recommend a mid-week stay to ensure you catch the Wednesday morning Farmers Markets. Take a dip in the iconic Main Beach ocean pool or any of the 10+ beaches, you are spoilt for choice & cannot go wrong... Head out to Angourie to experience its world-class surfing reserve along with rock jumping at the Blue Pools. Catch the ferry over to Iluka & watch the sun go down. On the cafe scene, we recommend The Kiosk, Gather & Beachwood. Dinner is a tough pick between Paradiso, El Ocaso & Playa Bodega.
Q: Besides the amazing ocean view, is there a standout feature of the property that surprises guests or gets them talking?
A: The front garden with its in-built seat & fire pit, surrounded by carefully curated landscaping. The lush grass is the perfect patch for your morning movement and in the evening the ideal spot for a few drinks in the deck chairs reflecting on your magical day.
Q: In your eyes, what does the perfect weekend at Beach House Yamba look like?
A: Making the most of all Bay Properties' in-house experiences is a great start. Pre-order gourmet catering & platters to be waiting for you in the fridge on arrival. Enjoy them with a glass of wine under pastel skies on the deck. Wake up for sunrise over the water, don't worry you can stay in bed for this if you wish! Take a stroll down the hill to Main Beach for a dip and a coffee @ The Kiosk. Wander back up for your in-house aroma massage or private pilates session before heading to the co-op to pick up some fresh Yamba prawns ready for lunch. Get stuck in a daze at the house, nothing else really matters when you are soaking up the Beach House. Eat, swim, relax, repeat... that is the perfect weekend, right?
