Sleep tourism is one of 2025’s biggest travel trends and we’re here for it
Posted: 12 March 2025
We all know that feeling of coming back from a holiday feeling like… well, you need another holiday. Sleep tourism is the opposite of that.
What is sleep tourism?
Sleep tourism is all about getting some R&R during your travels. This isn’t just about comfy beds, eye masks, and blackout curtains (although we’re a big fan of those). Sleep tourism destinations are actually specialised hotels people go to in order to improve their sleep - and we think it’s going to be one of the biggest travel trends of 2025.

On a sleep tourism holiday, you might...

Go off-grid
Get away from the business of everyday life. Choose remote, quiet places surrounded by nature to give your mind the chance to truly unwind.

Book a relaxing treatment
Many sleep-focused hotels offer special treatments like massages, aromatherapy, and even sound therapy.

Create a sleep-friendly routine
Some hotels provide sleep plans (guided by experts), with activities like yoga and meditation that help reset your sleep.

Unplug and relax
Disconnecting from your devices (a digital detox) can make a huge difference to your ability to fall asleep and stay asleep.
Why is sleep tourism so important?
More and more people know how important quality sleep is for overall health. As our lives get busier, with constant notifications, long workdays, and to-do lists, we’re finding it harder to switch off and rest.
Enter sleep tourism.
It's perfect for those who are ready to give their sleep the attention it deserves (us!).

Here are a few reasons why more people are turning to sleep tourism:
- They're craving some deep sleep (40% of Australians aren’t getting the rest they deserve)
- Looking to escape the stress of daily life
- The rise of health and wellness
- Wanting to relax more
- They know sleep as an investment in their health

What does science say about catching up on sleep?
Science shows that chronic sleep deprivation creates something called sleep debt, which affects your brain, mood, and immune system. When you don’t get enough sleep, your brain struggles to focus and you’re more likely to feel stressed.
Catching up on sleep for a few days can help in the short term, but it doesn’t fully reverse the effects of sleep debt. Your body needs consistent, good-quality sleep to really recover from sleep deprivation. So, while a retreat or a lie-in can give you a boost, the best way to really improve your sleep is by making healthy sleep habits a part of your routine.

How to have a sleep holiday at home
So, how do you bring rest and relaxation back into your daily routine?
We’re so glad you asked.
It all starts with setting the right environment and building the right habits. Once that’s done, you can have perfect sleep, every night.

Create a calming space
Start with your bedroom. Use soft, breathable fabrics like our high-quality linen sheets, which look amazing, feel amazing, and keep you cool all year round.

Stick to a routine
Just like on your holiday, try to establish a wind-down routine at home. Listen to a Yoga Nidra, take a hot bath, and stick to soft yellow-toned lighting.

Don’t forget your sleep guide
To make perfect sleep as simple as possible, we’ve created a free Sleep Guide that shows you how to improve your sleep in 7 days.
The guide covers everything from perfecting your nightly routine to enjoying delicious, sleep-friendly meals.
